Orangewood Foundation was founded in 1981 and today is one of the leading providers of services to foster and community youth in Orange County. Foundation programs focus on four critical areas: health & wellness, housing, life skills & employment, and education. Recognizing that 46% of foster youth do not graduate from high school, in August 2013 the Foundation opened Samueli Academy, a free public charter high school for community, underserved and foster teens and located in Santa Ana. In June 2017, our inaugural graduating class had a 99% graduation rate with 97% of students continuing on to college. Annually, Orangewood Foundation serves almost 2,000 foster and community youth. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John R. Talley, our beloved founder, visionary, and respected model businessman who has impacted an industry and helped guide generations of employees. On behalf of our Executives, Management, and our entire network of Employees, we extend our sympathies to Mrs. Elizabeth Talley, the sons, John D. Talley, Jeff Talley, Mark D. Talley, Rick Talley, and extended Talley family and friends.

It is truly a sad day for Talley. John R. Talley was an amazing businessman who believed in core values such as working hard, being honest, and delivering service excellence to customers for many years to come. Today John R. Talley’s legacy continues to touch on the pillars he established when he started this company. He will certainly be dearly missed.

Mrs. Elizabeth Talley shared the following message with the Talley network, “To all our extended Talley family, those of you today, those whose steps you’ve followed, and those of you yet to come. It is with our deepest sorrow that we share the loss of one of the finest, John R. Talley, our founder, who had a vision. His vision in starting Talley included all those who wanted to work hard, work honestly, and by doing it beside each fellow worker to achieve the success we enjoy today. Thank you all, Talley Family, for becoming part of that vision. Carry On….” Mrs. T. [Elizabeth Talley]

Family and friends are welcomed to the services on October 23, 2021, at 10:30 am at the Yorba Linda United Methodist Church at 19002 Yorba Linda Blvd., Yorba Linda, CA 92886.
